Another Great Taste Award for Ruby's Fudge!

Yes, that's right! Our Brandy and Cranberry fudge has been awarded two stars in the 2024 Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards!

In the run up to Christmas last year, I was enjoying a piece of my brandy and cranberry fudge and thinking just how delicious it really is. It's a seasonal flavour that I only make in the run up to Christmas, so I'd never really thought of entering it into Great Taste before. In the weeks that followed after, I received some lovely feedback from customers that had also appreciated this delicately balanced brandy fudge, so at the beginning of 2024, I submitted my entry to The Guild of Fine Food. After all, it deserves the recognition just as much as our other flavours!

Great Taste is the world's largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme, and is awarded at three levels; 1 Star is simply delicious, two stars is outstanding and three stars is exquisite. Not every entry is given an award. In fact it's not easy to be given an award at all, so for our Brandy and Cranberry (and also Salted Caramel Fudge in 2021), to be labelled as outstanding, is an absolute honour!

"This decadent looking fudge with its visible cranberries gives an excellent mouthfeel, melting in the mouth and releasing the notes of brandy in the sweet cranberries. This is a very well made fudge, using high quality ingredients."

Now the judges on table two, would have liked "a few more boozy notes." That's ok, we need a little criticism to make things better, but this has made me laugh a little. Just like our Rum and Raisin Fudge, I cover the fruit in alcohol the night before. In this case, we use VSOP brandy (and a lot of it!). The cranberries are swimming in it for at least twelve hours and are strained before being added to our traditional butter fudge recipe. I even add a little tipple into the mixture for good measure! Nevertheless, maybe I'll up the size of that little tipple for this Christmas!

Our Brandy and Cranberry fudge will be available to buy online from 1st November 2024 in gift bags, gift boxes, hampers and by the kilo and will be leaving the fudge kitchen showing off it's new Two Star Great Taste logo with pride. Enjoy!
